Victor Ong, an esteemed pianist and educator based in Singapore, is well-known for his versatility across diverse musical genres. Currently serving as the Head of the Classical Piano Department at Singapore Raffles Music College, he has performed on stages worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, Europe, and various countries across Asia.
Some of his achievements include 1st Prize at the Manhattan International Music Competition and 2nd Prize at the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, both in 2016. Victor is also deeply involved as a piano accompanist and was awarded with the Best Accompanist Award at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. He served as the official accompanist for the GSF Singapore Festival 2023 under the artistic direction of YinKe and collaborates closely with violinist Min Lee and her studio. Additionally, he has performed as a soloist in the Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra’s inaugural concert.
Victor earned his Master’s degree in piano performance from the Manhattan School of Music in New York City and his Bachelor’s degree from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, where he received a full scholarship. His mentors include Horacio Gutiérrez, Albert Tiu,
Benjamin Loh, Timothy Ku, Joseph Lee, and Susan Ng. He also received the Excellent Instructor Award from the Mendelssohn International Piano Competition Asia Pacific and the Outstanding Mentor Award in Classical Piano from Singapore Raffles Music College.
In addition to his performance career, Victor is a co-founder of the music school The Pianology and also serves as an ABRSM examiner. He has also led numerous masterclasses for competition prize winners and students from piano studios around the world. Recent performances have featured a recital of the Franck and Strauss Violin Sonatas in collaboration with violinist Siew Yi Li.
Victor has been invited to adjudicate at numerous competitions, including the Young Talent Piano Competition by The Piano Solution (Singapore) 2022-2024, La Pianista in Medan, Indonesia (2023), Asia Pacific International Arts Festival (2024) and also the Asia Students Arts Festival Preliminary in Singapore (2025).
