2006 Young Artist Award recipient Lim Yan was a student of Ms Lim Tshui Ling in Singapore before pursuing further music studies in Manchester, UK, at Chetham’s School of Music; and subsequently graduating from the University of Manchester as well as the Royal Northern College of Music, where his tutor was Ronan O’Hora.

 

A seasoned recitalist and concerto soloist, Yan has performed extensively in Europe and Asia, including concerts in the UK, Romania, Serbia and Sweden, as well as in Beijing and Hanoi. Nearer home, he has performed with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Music Makers, re:mix, and re:Sound. Yan is also a keen chamber musician and has been part of the piano quintet series Take 5 since 2007, as well as collaborating in concert with cellist Wang Jian and violinists Ning Feng and Chloe Chua.

 

Yan has been an adjunct faculty at the School of the Arts since its inception in 2008, and is a full-time faculty member of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music as Senior Lecturer in Collaborative Piano. He is also the current Artistic Director of the Singapore International Piano Festival.
